One of the largest green spaces in Boston, Arnold Arboretum is a 281-acre park located in the Jamaica Plain and Roslindale neighborhoods. The arboretum has a variety of plants, flowers and trees, making it an ideal place for outdoor photography during any season. It is a welcomed destination for family outings, a romantic date or hanging with friends. There are many trails to take make it ideal for walking dogs, running and even paved paths for biking. During winter, Arnold Arboretum is often used as an open space for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and even sledding for kids of all ages.

- The Arboretum is owned and operated by Harvard University.
- It is the oldest public arboretum in North America, established in 1872.
- As of 2011, living collections include 14,980 individual plants (including nursery holdings).
- The second Sunday in May every year is "Lilac Sunday". This is the only day of the year that picnicking is allowed.
Directions & Parking
Arnold Arboretum is a large park located in Boston’s Jamaica Plain and Roslindale. There are many entrances with parking nearby. By T, you can take the Orange Line to Forest Hills and walk to the Blackwell Footpath or Forest Hill Road. You can also take the 38 bus and get off at Centre St @ Arborway on the 38 Bus – this is a short walk to the main entrance and Visitor Center on the Arborway. There is also plenty of parking at Arnold Arboretum on The Arborway, but it can get crowded on weekends. You can also find street parking on Bussey Street and Walter Street.
